Man, 28, Sent To Prison For Stealing Peugeot 406 Car Parked At Bode Thomas

A 28-year old man, Sodiq Oseni, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing a Peugeot 406 saloon car parked on the road at Bode Thomas Street, Surulere area of the State.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Oseni, according to the Police, with others now at large, conspired on 5th August, 2024 and stole the car belonging to Dr Abubakar Rufai and escaped.

 

The matter was reported to the Police. The Police moved into action, eventually traced, arrested the suspect and detained him for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

 

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Yaba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Sodiq Oseni ‘m’ and others now at large on the 5th day of August 2024 at about 2215hrs at Bode Thomas Area of Lagos in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and therefore committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT II:” That you, Sodiq Oseni ‘m’ and others now at large on the same date, time and place, at the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal one Pegeout 406 Saloon Car with Reg. No. GKW 457 AA value Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N2,500,000.00) only, one Mikano generator battery value One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira (N120,000.00) only. all together valued N2,620,000.00 (Two Million Six Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira) only. property of one Dr. Abubakar Rufai ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280(1) and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

He pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
