Police operatives from the Ogun State Command have arrested a 29-year old man, Jamiu Salihu, for allegedly stabbing his 20-year old lover, Temitope Elemide, with a knife during a squabble and she died in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Bosero community, Olodo, in Odeda Council area of the State.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed that the suspect was in Police custody undergoing interrogation over his alleged conduct.
SP Odutola disclosed that one knife, two iron rods and one android Tecno phone were recovered as exhibits from the suspect, which gave reasonable suspicion that he actually committed the alleged murder.
She also stated that the body of the victim had been recovered and deposited in the morgue for autopsy report.
“Yes, one Jamiu Salihu has allegedly killed his girlfriend, Temitope Elemide. The suspect, Salihu, was said to have murdered the 20-year old university admission seeker at her family residence in the Bosero community, Olodo, in Odeda Council area of the State.”
“The deceased was said to be preparing for the next Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, before the incident. And the incident was reported to the Police on Sunday before the boyfriend was arrested in connection with the murder.”
“There was a suspected murder report on February 25, from Odeda that a lifeless body of Elemide was seen inside the room stabbed with a knife on her head and body.”
“Jamiu Salihu, 29-year old boyfriend, was allegedly seen coming out from the bush on the said day of the crime,” she said.
The suspect may likely be charged before the Court for murder, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
