Man, 29, Claims EFCC Staff, Collects Money From People

A 29-year old man, Emeka Emmanuel, has been arrested in Lagos after he posed as an EFCC operative and collected money from people to offer them employment.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Emmanuel was arrested by Police operatives from Ojo Division, Lagos, based on credible intelligence and was found in possession of EFCC identity card, with which he used to dupe innocent people.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Bala Elkana. He said that on 14th September, 2019, at about 1100hrs, acting on credible Intelligence, Ojo Police Station arrested one Emeka Emmanuel (M) 29, of Ijanikin, Lagos at Iyana Iba area. The suspect was in possession of a fake EFCC ID card, which he used in parading himself as an EFCC operative.
DSP Elkana explained that the suspect had already duped innocent citizens under the pretense of providing them employment with the EFCC as operatives.
He said one Olaposi Semiu ‘m’ of Agbara, Lagos, was one of such victims. He told Police investigators that the suspect collected the sum of N51,000 from him over a month ago, with a promise of securing employment for his son as an EFCC operative, which Emmanuel never did. He was said to have defrauded other victims under the false pretence that he was an operative of EFCC and had the connection to secure jobs for them.
DSP Elkana said that the suspect has confessed to the crime and was also found operating illegal medical facility in his residence. Other items recovered included medical equipment and fake certificates.
The Police spokesman said that the Command had advised members of the public, especially job seekers to be mindful of the activities of such job scammers in order not to fall prey to their antics. He said investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be charged to Court at the conclusion of investigation.
