A 29-year old man, Friday Uka, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 6-year old daughter.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Owode Street, Iwaya area of Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect lured the little girl into his apartment under the false pretence of playing games with her and in the process removed her clothes and forcefully penetrated her private part.
In process of penetration, he injured the victim as blood came out from her private part and he was unable to control it while the victim went back to her parents with pool of blood.
The matter was reported to the Police at Sabo Division and the suspect was arrested. He was later transferred to the SCID, Yaba, for further investigation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation at the SCID, he was found culpable and consequently charged before the Yaba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
The Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
