Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested a 29-year old man, Unyime Friday Nbride, for allegedly having sex with his 12-year old biological daughter and defiling her in the process before he was caught in the act.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ajegunle Street, Ilupeju area of Lagos, where the suspect resides with the victim.
He has been arrested and charged for indecent sexual assault and defilement.
The Police alleged that he lured the victim into his matrimonial bed and forcefully penetrated her when his wife was not around but while he was in the act, it got exposed and he was caught.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ilupeju Division. He was arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over the conduct.
During interrogation, he admitted to have slept with her but with the victim’s consent. That did not save him as the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since he pleaded not guilty before the Court.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 13th November, 2022, for mention for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
