A 29-year old man, Rasak Balogun, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he allegedly lured a 17-year old girl and engaged her in a sex romp.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Balogun, has been arrested and charged for statutory rape.
The incident happened at Ebun Street, Ogba area of Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect was said to have lured the girl to his apartment and got her confused before he engaged her in sex.
However, the information leaked, the girl was confronted and she revealed that Balogun tricked her into the act and he did it without her consent alleging she was raped by Balogun.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and Balogun was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Command for interrogation over the conduct.
During interrogation, Balogun admitted that he had sex with her after she consented to it contrary to the claims of the girl before the Police.
However, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
But the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice while the matter was adjourned till 29th July, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
