A 29-year old man, Daniel Julius, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly smashing the head of a lady, Ayomide Morenikeji, by breaking bottle on her head and using same to stab her during a public brawl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 12th October,2025 at Adeyemi Street, Egbeda Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect had a disagreement with the complainant over an undisclosed matter, which led to exchange of words. And in the process, the suspect picked a bottle, broke it on her head and used it to stab her hand.
The complainant was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment while the matter was reported to the Police at Shasha Division. The Police moved into action, arrested and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct against the complainant.
The Police found him culpable after thorough interrogation and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Daniel Julius ‘m’, on the 12th October, 2025, at about 2100hrs at Adeyemi Street, Egbeda, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully assault one Ayomide Morenikeji ‘f by breaking bottle on her head and using the bottle to stab her on her left hand, which caused her serious injury and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for the facts and sentence since he pleaded guilty to enable the Court to sentence him accordingly to serve as deterrent to others who might want to commit such crimes in the future.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, and adjourned the matter till 17th November, 2025, for facts and sentence.
