A 29-year old man, Akinyemi Rasaq, has landed in trouble in Lagos after he allegedly lured a 13-year old girl into his apartment, fondled and sucked her breasts before he eventually penetrated her.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 29th June, 2020 at Mosan Lane, Moshalasi Alhaji, Agege area of Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect, Rasaq, was later arrested and charge before Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.
The Police operatives from Isokoko Division, who arrested Rasaq, alleged that he lured the victim into his apartment and defiled her in the process. That was after fondling and sucking her breasts, which reportedly got her confused before he eventually raped her.
When the act got exposed, Rasaq claimed that he did not force her into the act but the girl said he lured her without her consent which compounded his woes.
The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Court because the girl was still a minor which is statutory rape under the criminal code.
He was taken to Court to be arraigned, which could not hold, after the prosecutor, Christopher John asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, ordered his remand in Correctional centre without an option of bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
