A 30-year old man, Samuel Ganiyu Taiwo, has landed in trouble in Lagos after he
allegedly lured, engaged a 13-year old girl in sex inside a taxi park and was
eventually caught.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Olojowon Taxi Park in Amukoko, Lagos.
While the suspect, Taiwo, was still in the act, he was caught and handed over to the Police in the area who subsequently transferred him to the Gender Section of the Police Command for further investigation.
Taiwo reportedly admitted that he penetrated her but that it was with her consent and so did not rape or defile her as claimed by the Police.
But after interrogation, the Police found him culpable because of the age of the victim and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the offence.
The Court did not take his plea after the Prosecutor, Supol Raji Akeem, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Hence, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. I.O. Adelaja, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre without an option of bail.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice while the defendant will be in the custody pending the outcome of DPP’s report.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence over jurisdiction.
The matter has suffered several adjournments occasioned by the Covid19 lockdown and no date was fixed for the report of DPP’s advice.
