A 30-year old man, Akinbo Qudus, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly jumping inside the church through the fence to steal property but was caught in the process.

According to the Police, the suspect and others now at large conspired and went to the church to steal. The suspect first jumped through the fence to gain entrance to the church.

However, while he was inside the church, the security men on duty caught him while others fled and escaped. The suspect was handed over to the Police at Dopemu Division for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

“That you, Akinbo Qudus ‘m’ and others now at large on 20th day of April, 2025, at about 0310hrs at Oyewole District, Dopemu Road Agege, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire together to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
