Man, 30, Docked For Swindling POS Operator Of N1.5m With Fake Bank Alert

A 30-year old man, Ndubisi Felix, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly swindling a POS operator, Okoro Kingsley, to the tune of N1.5m by collecting the money with fake Bank Alert.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 25th April, 2024, at Akija Road off Ilewe area of Ikotun, Lagos.
According to the Police,  the suspect approached the victim that he wanted to withdraw cash of the said amount in question and would transfer the equivalent through his phone and they agreed on the charges.
The complainant then sourced the money from the bank, gave him the cash while the suspect purpotedly transferred the money through his phone and he received alert as genuine transaction.
However, days after, he went to his bank to confirm the payment but was told that such money did not reflect in his account as such he may have been defrauded with a fake bank alert.
The matter was reported to the Police while he intensified efforts to apprehend the suspect. After several months, the Police eventually arrested the suspect and detained him at the Ikotun Division for interrogation.
During interrogation,  he offered to refund the money but asked for time to do so because he had no money with him to pay the complainant.
The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 6th September, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
