Anger is destructive when one considers what happened to a 30-year old man, Savour Aniefok, who allegedly flogged his own biological son to death in the process of beating him as a form correction in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Abdulquadri Adebiyi Street, Suya spot in Magodo Phase 2, Shangisha area of Lagos, where they resides.
The suspect, Aniefok, has been arrested and transferred to the SCID, Panti, Yaba over the death of his son, Nathaniel and is now facing charge for murder, which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
What could have led Aniefok to kill his son was not disclosed but Police sources stated he returned from work and the deceased committed an undisclosed offence. And out of anger, he picked a cane and flogged him.While he was still flogging, the boy slumped and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital. But on getting there, he was already dead; the doctors merely certified him dead and deposited the corpse in the mortuary for autopsy report.
The matter was reported to the Police and Aniefok was arrested and transferred to the SCID, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
Having been found culpable, the Police charged him before the Ebute Metta Magistrates Court.
After making his submission before the Court, the prosecutor, Inspector Cosin Adams, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Hence, the Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. A.A.Oshoniyi, ordered his remand in custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
