A 30-year old man, Emeka Christian Emanu, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring a 17-year old girl and inserting his finger into her private part in order to seduce her but the victim resisted and exposed him.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Emanu, has been arrested and charged for sexual assault.
The incident happened at Peace Avenue, Startimes Estate, Ago Okota area of Lagos State, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect lured the victim, removed her pants, inserted his finger into her private part and used his Samsung phone to take pictures and videos of nude body.
However, the victim was said to have reported what happened to her parents and the matter was then reported to the Police in the area. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation.
After thorough interrogation at the Gender Section, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned after the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the seriousness of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Ex. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s legal advice will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 23rd July, 2024, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
