Man, 32, Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing N7.5m Ford Edge Parked On The Street

A 32-year old man, Olawale Benjamin, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing a Ford Edge 2008 Model vehicle valued N7.5m belonging to one Mr. Eloka, which was parked on the street. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in November, 2022 at Akobi Crescent, off Carnal in Mushin area of Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the suspect and others now at large conspired and went to where the vehicle was parked, stole it and escaped to an unknown place.

 

However, when the owner of the vehicle discovered that it was missing, he reported to the Police at Area H Command, Ogodu. The Police operatives trailed, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the Command for interrogation over the stolen vehicle.

 

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Olawale Benjamin Dusumi within November of 2022 at Akobi Crescent, off Carnal in Mushin, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to with stealing and thereby committed an offence to contrary and punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Olawale Benjamin Dusumi and Ejiogu Chimobi now at large with others, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal FORD EDGE 2008 MODEL valued at N7, 500,000 property of one Mr. Eloka and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 287 (7) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
