Man, 32, Arraigned For Knocking Off Victim’s Teeth During Public Brawl

A 32-year old man, Daddy Hammed, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for displaying his boxing skills by allegedly knocking off the teeth of his rival, Salisu Abdullahi, during a public brawl over an undisclosed matter.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 12th July, 2025, at Mudi Lane, Oniwaya area of Agege, Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect and the complainant had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter, which led to hot exchange of words and then degenerated into fighting.
During the fight, the suspect displayed his boxing prowess and knocked off the complainant’s teeth. He was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The matter was reported to the Police at Isokoko Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for inflicting such injury on the complainant during the fight.
The Police found him culpable after interrogation and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged assault under the criminal laws of the State.
The charges read:
COUNT 1: “That you, Daddy Hammed ‘m’ on the 12th day of July, 2025 at about 2320hrs at Mudi Lane, Oniwaya, Agege, Lagos State in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did unlawfully assault one Salisu Abdullahi ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 173 of the criminal law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT 2: “That you, Daddy Hammed ‘m’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully inflict injury on one Salisu Abdullahi ‘m’ by removing eight of his teeth, which caused him bodily harm and thereby committed an offence contrary to the provisions of Section 246 (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015. “
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Phillip Ademigbuji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
