A 32-year old man, Mike Okpo, has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court over allegations of diversion of AGO products valued at N43,721,250 belonging to Indepent Power Technology (IPT) in Lekki.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Okpo, has been charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy, diversion and stealing over his alleged conduct.
The alleged offences took place in November 2025 at about 1:25 p.m. at  Providence Street, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, within the Lagos Magisterial District.
The matter was reported to the Commissioner of Police Special Tactical Squad led by SP Banti Adamu. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect and charged him before the Court.
The charges included that the defendant, Mike Okpo and others still at large conspired to commit felony, to wit, stealing and diversion. The prosecution said that this contravened Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The second charge alleged the defendant and others of stealing AGO products valued at N43,721,250, property of Indepent Power Technology (IPT) Lekki, Lagos. AGO is commonly known as diesel used for industrial and power generation purposes.
The prosecution stated that the act was carried out on the same date, time, and place and contravened Sections 280(1)(2) and 281(1)(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
The alleged offence is said to be punishable under Sections 287(5)(b), (8), and (9)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. These sections deal with stealing and related offences involving property above certain values which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However,  he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
