Man, 32, Bites Senior Police Officer’s Ear During Public Brawl

An Assistant Superintendent of Police attached to Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) Ikeja, Lagos, ASP Yinusa Simon, had a nasty experience while performing his duty as he had an altercation with a  man, Samuel Eduoku.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 33-year old Eduoku grabbed and inflicted serious injury on him by attempting to bite off his ear during the squabble before he was rescued.
The incident happened under the bridge at Ikeja, where the suspect, Eduoku, had a disagreement with Supol Simon over an undisclosed matter which landed him in a hospital due to the injury he sustained.
The suspect, Eduoku, has been arrested and charged for allegedly assaulting Supol Simon while on duty.
According to the Police, the suspect had a disagreement with the officer over an undisclosed matter, which led to exchange of words. In the process, the suspect drew the officer to his mouth and gave him a bite on his right ear.
The officer was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment while the suspect was arrested and detained at the station at Ikeja Division over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
“That you, Samuel Eduoku, on the 12/02/2025 at about 2330hrs, at Ikeja under bridge in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did assault a Police Officer one ASP Yinusa Simon ‘m’ by biting and holding the officer while performing his lawful duty and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 174 (B) and punishable under Section 173 of the criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II: “That you, Samuel Eduoku, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace by inflicting injury on the right ear of one ASP Yinusa Simon ‘m’ attached to Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) Ikeja Lagos State and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 168 and punishable under Section 168 (d) (2) of the criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT III: “That you, Samuel Eduoku, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully inflict wound by biting the right ear of one ASP Yinusa Simon ‘m’ attached to Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) Ikeja Lagos State and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 246 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
