Man, 32, Caught Having S*x With Neighbour’s Girl, 5

The residents of Igando area of Lagos were shocked after a 32-year old man, Ridman Salimon, was caught having sex with his neighbour’s 5-year old girl defiling her in the process.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Chucks Mogo Street by Moshalashi Road in Igando, Lagos, where they reside.

The suspect was apprehended and handed over to the Police, who then charged him before the Court and was remanded in Correctional Centre over defilement which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.

Police sources said that the suspect, Salimon, lured the little girl at about 4pm after he returned from work into his apartment, removed her pant and forcefully penetrated her.
However, while he was still in the act, one of their neighbours, who had suspected, caught him red handed and raised alarm which attracted others. The girl’s parents then reported to the Police at Igando Division; he was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Command, Lagos.

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K. Kubunje, ordered Salimon to be remanded in custody without an option of bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

The matter may likely be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial before the Court.
The matter was further adjourned till 27th August, 2020, for the report of DPP’s advice to be available.
