Man, 32, Docked For Using Company’s N1m To Play Bet9ja Game

A 32-year old man, Emmanuel Ibeh, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after the company’s N1m was paid into his account and he in turn used it to play bet9ja gamble and he lost the whole money in the process. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ibeh, has been arrested.

The incident happened at P&T compound, Ipaja area of Lagos State, where Ibeh reside with the owner of the company, Chukwu Ikemefuna.

The Police alleged that the money was paid into the suspect’s Access Bank account in order to pay into the company’s account. But instead of making the payment, he diverted the money and used it to play the bet9ja game.

However, when the result of the game came out, Ibeh did not win anything and the money was lost. Having waited for him to transfer the money into the company’s account to no avail, the owner asked to know why he had not done so. It was then he opened up and told him that he had lost the whole money. 

He explained to the owner of the company that his friend had assured him that if he staked the money for the game, he would win much more money. He believed him and used the money play the game but it failed. 

He was handed over to the Police at Ipaja Division. After interrogation and having been found culpable, he was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence. 
He pleaded not guilty. 

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence. 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.

The defendant, Ibeh, was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 20th June, 2022, for mention.
