A 32-year old man, Igwe Chukwudi has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly paying for sex services and drinks worth N226,000 with fake bank alert in a popular hotel.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 2nd July, 2023 at Grand Park Hotel, located at Segun Akinbolu Street off Ailegun Road, Ejigbo area of Lagos.
The Police alleged that the suspect had gone to the hotel’s club with friends, engaged some ladies in the hotel and ordered choice drinks such as Black Label, Jameson, Red Label, power horse, some plastic soft drinks and others.
However, after the club engagements and the services of the ladies, the management brought the bill to the tune of the said amount. The suspect used his phone to send fake bank alert of amount to the hotel’s account.
He landed in trouble as he did not know that the hotel management has a way to check the alert for monies, which customers pay into their accounts. So when the management checked the alert, it was a fake alert.
The management reported the matter to the Police at Ejigbo Division; the suspect, Chukwudi, was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a short adjournment for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, without an option of bail and adjourned the matter till 17th July, 2023, for mention for the consideration of his bail.
