Man, 33, Batters Neighbourhood Safety Officer While Trying To Enforce Traffic Law

A member of Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) Officer, Bamgbade Joseph has suffered a broken mouth after he was beaten mercilessly while trying to enforce traffic law inside a street in Lagos State. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 20th day of June, 2025, at about 0900hrs at Baruwa Inside, Ipaja Lagos.

 

The 33-year old man behind the attack,  Olajide Aderibigbe, was angry that he came inside the street to enforce traffic law in the morning and seriously battered him.

 

However, his action has landed him in trouble as he has been arrested and charged for the alleged assault under the Criminal Laws of the State.

 

According to the Police, the complainant went to perform his duty inside the street and had altercation with the suspect. And in the process, the suspect grabbed and beat him mercilessly further Inflicting injury with a bite on his left hand before he was eventually rescued.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at Ipaja Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct against the complainant.

 

The Police found him culpable after interrogation and subsequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

 

The charge read:

COUNT I:”That you, OLAJIDE ADERIBIGBE ‘M’ on the 20th day of June, 2025, at about 0900hrs at Baruwa Inside, Ipaja Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did intentionally and unlawfully assault Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) Officer, one  BAMGBADE JOSEPH ‘M’ by hitting him with a fist blow on his mouth which caused him harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 246(a) of the criminal law of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT II: “That you, OLAJIDE ADERIBIGBE ‘M’ on the same date, time and place, within the same magisterial district, did unlawful assault Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) Officer, one BAMGBADE JOSEPH ‘M’ by giving him a bite on his left hand which caused him harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 173 of the criminal laws of Lagos State Nigeria, 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Police.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
