A man, Dolagbo Samuel, will have to live the rest of his life without one of his ears after he engaged his rival, Blessing David, in a brawl and he bit off the ear and then swallowed it in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Taiwo Ayodeji Street, off Ashipa Road, Ipaja area of Lagos.
Thereafter, Police operatives from the Ipaja Division arrested the suspect, David, to provide the ear but he claimed that he could not find it. His statement confirmed the suspicion of claims by the victim, Samuel, that he swallowed it during the fight.
According to the Police, David and the victim had engaged in a public fight over an undisclosed matter. And during the fight,  David rained blows on Samuel, then grabbed his ear and bit it off. That ended the fight as he was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment and the ear was not found for them to stitch it back.
It was at that point that the matter was reported to the Police, who went to arrest the suspect, David and two Police officers, Sergeant Ogunkanmi Tunde and Corporal Gabriel Aina, were also assaulted in the process of trying to effect his arrest.
However, the Police later overpowered and arrested him. He was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for causing grievous harm to the victim.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a short adjournment for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence since he pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
