A 33-year old man, Adebayo Oluwatobi, has landed in big trouble in Lagos State for allegedly engaging his neighbour’s 10-year old girl in sex and he was caught.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Remilekun Street, Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, where they reside.
According to Police, the suspect, Oluwatobi, allegedly lured the girl to his apartment and confused her with words of mouth before he forcefully engaged her in sex.
Having satisfied himself, he allowed the girl to go with the pain from the forceful penetration and warned her not to tell anyone about it.
However, the girl was said to have revealed what happened to her parents and the matter was reported to the Police in the area. Oluwatobi was arrested and then transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation over the conduct.
While being interrogated, the suspect claimed that he did not rape the victim but that he did it with her consent despite the fact that he actually knew she was a minor.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the offence was a serious one that attracts capital punishment.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter wa adjourned till 27th October, 2022, for the report of DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
