Tragedy struck at Ikotun area of Lagos after a 34-year old man, identified as Bayo, allegedly beat his 34-year old lover, Faith, to death during a squabble and stuffed her corpse inside a bag to deposit at the mortuary.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the incident happened at Baale Street, Okerube area of Ikotun, Lagos, where the deceased lived with Bayo before her death over an undisclosed disagreement.
It was gathered that the late Faith got pregnant for Bayo and moved into his apartment and was delivered of the baby.
However, since they got to live together after the birth of the baby, according to the residents, it had been constant fighting between the duo to the extent that the parents of both the deceased and the suspect had tried to resolve the matter including their neighbours to no avail.
On the day the incident happened, it was gathered that Bayo had engaged and beat her mercilessly before she slumped and died on the spot. It was then it dawned on Bayo that he had murdered Faith.
He reportedly arranged for an ambulance, put her corpse inside a sack before he informed her parents that Faith had died in his house and he was taking the corpse to the mortuary.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division and the suspect was arrested. He was later transferred to the SCID, Yaba, for further investigation over the alleged murder.
The suspect risks several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence.
But that will happen after the conclusion of Police investigations and prosecution over the alleged dastardly act.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited Ikotun Police Division, where the matter was initially reported, the DPO, CSP Adagba Johnson, was not in the office to respond over the matter. A Police source stated that the DPO went out for routine monitoring of the area. But the source confirmed the incident and told our correspondent that the matter has been transferred to the SCID, Yaba, for further investigation.
