Man, 35, Arraigned For Defiling Neighbour’s Girl, 14

A 35-year old man, Solomon Sunday, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly engaging his neighbour’s 14-year old girl in sex. He warned her not to tell anyone but the victim eventually revealed what happened. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Solomon Sunday, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for the alleged defilement.

 

The incident happened at Kayode Street, Ogba, Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the suspect lured the victim to his apartment and forcefully engaged her in the act. And thereafter, he threatened her not to tell anyone about it before he allowed her to go having satisfied himself.

 

However, the victim informed her parents about what happened and the matter was reported to the Police at Area G Command Headquarters in Ogba, Lagos.

The operatives moved into action, arrested the suspect and detained him at the Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

 

After rounds of interrogation,  the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Solomon Sunday ‘m’ on the 5th day of March,2025 at about 1200hrs at Kayode Street, Ogba, Lagos in Ikeja Magisterial District, did defile the victim, 14yrs and thereby committed an offence contrary to nd punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Solomon Sunday ‘m’ on the same jate, time and place at the aforementioned Magisterial District, did threaten the victim not to tell anybody that he had cannal knowledge of her, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 56(b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs, M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, without any option of bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
