Police operatives from the Gender Section of the Lagos State Command have arrested a 35-year old man, Tola Adebiyi, for allegedly engaging his neighbour’s 7-year old girl in sex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened at Jinadu Street, Orile Agege are of Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect was alleged to have lured the girl into his apartment, forcefully penetrated her and defiled her in the process.
However, it got exposed when the girl revealed to her parents what happened; how the suspect, Adeniyi, lured her into his apartment and defiled her.
He was arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over the alleged dastardly act and he reportedly admitted to have done so with the consent of the minor.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
When he was arraigned, the Court declined to take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Victor Eruada, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to DPP.
The defendant was remanded in custody pending the outcome of DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
