A 35-year old man, Abba Mustapha, has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly engaging a 13-year old girl in sex romp.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Madasheru Lawal Street, Ikorodu area of Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged the suspect to have lured the girl to his apartment, engaged her in sex romp repeatedly and having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go. However, the information leaked and the girl’s parents got to know. They asked the girl to know what happened and she revealed everything.
The matter to the Police in the area and Mustapha was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation. During interrogation, he admitted to have slept with the girl but with her consent. The girl on her part insisted that he lured her into the act against her consent. The Police found the suspect culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
When he was arraigned, the Court ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice following a motion by the prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, ordered the remand without taking his plea or granting him bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 30th March, 2022, for report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
