A 35-year old man, Danjuma Momoh, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly sneaking into his neighbour’s room and sexually assaulting her 14-year old mentally challenged daughter by penetrating her private part with his fingers.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Danjuma, has been arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for the alleged sexual assault.
The incident happened on 28th July, 2025, at Odinaka Nwaigwe Close, lyana Isashi, Lagos, where they reside.
The victim’s mother complained to the Police that when she was not at home, the suspect went into her room and told her special child who is not too well to pull her pants off. He then used his fingers to penetrate her private part and also touched her breasts on three different occasions.
The complainant stated that the suspect threatened her not to tell anybody but he was later handed over to the Police for prosecution over his alleged conduct against the victim.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Danjuma Momoh ‘m’, on the 28th day of July, 2025, at Odinaka Nwaigwe Close, lyana Isashi, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did sexually penetrate the vagina of the victim, 14years old, by inserting your finger inside her vagina and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
