A 35-year old man, John Samuel, has been arrested for allegedly engaging a 9-year old girl in sex romp and he was caught in the act.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Orji Street, Bayeiku area of Ikorodu, Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect, Samuel, landed in trouble after he allegedly lured the girl to his apartment and defiled her by engaged the girl in sex romp.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation and after thorough interrogation, he was found culpable over the conduct.
He was subsequently charged before Court for defilement, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
At the Ogba Magistrate’s Court, where he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 12th December, 2022, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
