A 35-year old man, Clement Jonah, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he allegedly lured a 14-year old girl into sex romp by sucking her breasts, she got confused and fell into his trap.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Oki Lane, Mende area of Maryland, Lagos, where they reside.
According to Police sources, the suspect, Jonah, was said to have lured the girl into his apartment, indecently assaulted her by touching her breasts and in the process, he started sucking them, which got her confused and unable to resist him before he unlawfully had carnal knowledge of her.
However, the whole thing got exposed after the act; the girl later realised herself, raised alarm and informed her parents about what happened. The matter was reported to the Police in the area and Jonah was arrested and detained for interrogation.
During interrogation, Jonah denied that he raped her and claimed that he had it with her consent the period the romp lasted as she did not complain. But the girl insisted that she was lured into it and it was not with her consent.
The Police found him culpable because the victim is still a minor and cannot give consent to such act at her age under the law.
He was subsequently charged before the Yaba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned after the prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, ordered his remand in custody pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned pending the outcome of DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
