The incident happened sometime in October, 2021 but he was charged before the Court for the alleged murder after the Police at the Homicide Department concluded their investigation.

According to Police sources, Pepple killed the woman with a machete and cut her body in pieces. He was said to be carrying the sack containing the woman’s remains before was accosted, the sack searched and the severed corpse was discovered.

The Police immediately arrested him and transferred the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba for further investigation over the alleged dastardly act.

After thoroughly interrogating him, the Police found him culpable for murder. He was subsequently charged before the Ebute Metta Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.

When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Olatunde Kehinde, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the offence was capital one and the penalty is life imprisonment or death by  hanging.

The matter was adjourned till 26th June, 2022, for report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
