Man, 36, Docked Over Abduction & S*x With 17-Year Old Girl

A 36-year old man, Akinfala Babatunde, has been arrested for allegedly abducting and raping a 17-year-old girl in Ondo State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Agosile Street, Odode Idanre.
Following a report lodged by the girl’s mother after she was informed by one of their neighbours that the suspect went to their house at night at Odode Idanre in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State, abducted her and raped her repeatedly.
The matter was reported to the Police; he was arrested and charged before the Court for the alleged offence.
When he was arraigned in Court, the prosecutor, Ajiboye Obadasa, told the Court that Babatunde took the teenager from her parents’ house to his residence and indecently assaulted her, adding that the girl’s parents reported the case at the Police station after some neighbours called them on phone.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 226 (1), 360, 361, 351 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State of Ondo State.
Obadasa said the suspect was arrested at his residence at Agosile Street, Odode Idanre, following a report lodged by the victim’s mother on the disappearance of her daughter at a Police station.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged before the Court sitting in Idanre on a four-count charge bordering on abduction and sexual assault, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F. A. Adesida, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and identification.
The matter was adjourned till 9th January, 2023, while the Court ordered that he should be remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
