Man, 36, Steals Light Bulbs At Redeemed Church After Missing Money In Offering Box

A 36-year old man, Adeniyi Bisayo, has landed in trouble for allegedly breaking into a branch of Redeemed Christian Church of God in Lagos State, stealing electricity bulbs, wires and drum pedal having missed the targeted money in the offering box after Sunday service.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Bisayo, has been arrested and charged for burglary and stealing.
The incident happened on Monday 7th day of April, 2025, at Redeemed Christian Church of God, His Champion Court Parish, located at Munirat Street, Alaja in Ayobo area of Lagos.
The suspect was alleged to have invaded the church in the early hours of Monday after the church service on Sunday with the intention to steal money from the offering box unknown to him that after the service, the Pastor removed all the money from the box.
When the suspect broke into the church and did not see any money inside the offering box, he decided to steal light bulbs, wires and drum set pedal including cymbal valued about N190,000.
However, while he tried to escape, he was caught and handed over to the Police at Ayobo Division for interrogation and prosecution.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Adeniyi Bisayo ‘m’, on the 7th day of April, 2025, at Adeniyi Bisa Alaja Road, Ayobo Lagos State in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did break and enter into the place of worship, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, His Champion Court Parish, located at Munirat Street, Alaja Road, Ayobo Lagos and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 311 of criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Adeniyi Bisayo ‘m’, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal a drum set pedal and ride cymbal valued one Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150,000.00), Connection Wires valued Thirty Thousand Naira (N30,000.00), and some light bulbs valued Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00), with the total value as One Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira (N190,000.00) properties of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, His Champion Court Parish, at Munirat Street, Alaja Road, Ayobo Lagos and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287(5)(f) of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
