A 37-year old man, Ademola Omokinwa, has landed in trouble for allegedly beating his lover, Miss Joy Jimoh, to death over N100,000, which he borrowed from her in Ondo State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Police operatives from the Ondo State Command have arrested the suspect, Omokinwa, for the alleged murder under the criminal laws of the State.
The incident happened in Idanre area of the State.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, who confirmed that the suspect, Omokinwa, was detained and he is undergoing interrogation over the alleged murder.
He explained that the suspect,  Omokinwa, allegedly attacked the victim, Joy, after she demanded the refund of N100,000 he had earlier borrowed from her, which led to altercation between them.
According to the PPRO, Ayanlade, the crime was reported by a neighbour of the deceased, Ngozi Gregory, after which detectives from the Command promptly swung into action and apprehended the suspect.
“The report revealed that during the altercation, the suspect became violent and repeatedly assaulted the victim until she became unconscious.”
“She was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention, where she was sadly confirmed dead by a medical practitioner. The remains of the deceased were thereafter deposited at the mortuary for post-mortem examination, while preliminary investigation commenced at the Division.”
“Consequently, the Commissioner has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet and comprehensive investigation to ensure a thorough and professional handling of the matter,” he said.
He stated that the suspect will be charged before the Court for the alleged murder, which attracts several years of imprisonment but that will be after the conclusion of investigation by the Police.
