A 37-year old man, Ogunbamise Oluwabamise, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing an unregistered white Hyundai Sonata 2015 model car valued at N15m belonging to Usman Alabi, which was parked on the street.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 29th October, 2025, at Progress Road, Abule Egba, Lagos  where the owner, Usman Alabi parked the car.
According to the Police, the suspect and others now at large conspired and stole the vehicle from where it was parked and escaped. The complainant reported the matter to the Police at Area G Command in Ogba. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, OGUNBAMISE OLUWABAMISE “M” and others now at large on the 29th day of October, 2025, somewhere at Progress Road, Abule Egba, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, OGUNBAMISE OLUWABAMISE “M” and others now at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal one unregistered WHITE HYUNDAI SONATA 2015 MODEL CAR valued N15,000,000.00 (FIFTEEN MILLION NAIRA ONLY) property of one USMAN ALABI “M” and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
