Man, 37, Docked For Inflicting Injury On A Lady During Public Brawl

A 37-year old man, Odianosen Okoduwa, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for displaying his boxing skills on a lady,  Ekanem Yellowduke, by giving her fist blows and injuring her in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 30th October,2024 at Idowu Alimi Street, Pipeline Bus Stop, Idimu area of Lagos.
The actual cause of the fight was not disclosed by the Police. But it was alleged that the suspect assaulted the lady by giving her fist blows on her eyes and other parts of the body and then smashed her phone during the fight.
The matter was reported to the Police at Idimu Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation,  the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
“That you Odianosen Okoduwa ‘M’ On the 20th day of October 2024 at about 0300 AM at No. 30 Idowu Alimi Street by Pipeline Bus Stop, Idimu LAGOS, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did assault one Ekanem YellowDuke by giving her fist blows all over her body and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 170 punishable under Section 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT 11: “That you, Odianosen Okoduwa ‘M’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Lagos Magisterial District, did assault one Ekanem YellowDuke ‘F’ by giving fist blow on her left eye, which caused her harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT III: “That you, Odianosen Okoduwa ‘M’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Lagos Magisterial District, did damage an infinix S5lite phone valued one hundred and thirty thousand naira only 130,000 property of one Ekanem YellowDuke by breaking it on the floor and thereby committed an offence and punishable under Section 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted him bail with a surety who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while address will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
