Man, 37, Docked For Inserting Fingers Into Private Part Of Neighbour’s Girl, 2

A 37-year old man, Yunusa Mohammed, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly inserting fingers into the private part of his neighbour’s 2-year old girl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Shokoni Street, Orile Iganmu area of Lagos, where they reside.
He was alleged to have earlier lured and had unlawful carnal knowledge of another minor on 1st March, 2025, before he lured and inserted his fingers into the private part of the victim on 25th March, 2025.
The matter got exposed after the victims revealed what happened and the matter was reported to the Police at Orile Division for prompt action. Thus, the suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the alleged offence.
The charges read:
“That you, Yunusa Mohammed on the 1st March 2025 at about 1400hr at 4, Shokoni Street, Orile Iganmu, Lagos, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did unlawfully had sexual intercourse with one minor ‘f’ without her consent and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
Count II:”That you, Yunusa Mohammed ‘m’ on the 25th March 2025 at about 1500hrs in the same place at the aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully and indecently deal with one minor ‘f’ 2 years old by putting your finger into her private part and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 263 (2) of Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Paul  Ugorji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.M.Ajayi, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
The defendant risks several years or life imprisonment if he is found culpable by the report of the DPP and recommended for trial over the alleged offence.
