A 37-year old man, Gabriel James, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly luring his neighbour’s  8-year old girl, inserting his finger into her private part and the victim exposed him.

P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened on 11th July, 2024 at Sanyaolu Street, Oworoshoki area of Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police,  the man lured the victim into his apartment, removed her pants and inserted his finger into her private part in order to satisfy his sexual desires.

Having satisfied himself,  he allowed the victim to go and warned her not to tell anyone about it including her parents. But her parents, who later suspected the victim, asked her and she revealed what happened.

The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

During interrogation, he denied the allegation. But when the victim was brought before him, she narrated what happened and he was unable to deny any longer.

The Police found him culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the Prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s legal advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
