Man, 38, Arraigned For Engaging Hooligans To Attack Police Officers On Duty

Two Police officers attached to Ojo Division, a female Assistant Superintendent of Police, Abagail Igbodo and Nwanmeme Emeka, had a nasty experience while they were performing their lawful duty as they were brutally attacked and injured by hooligans in Lagos State. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that while the officers were performing their duty, a 38-year old man, Olapade Sulaiman, allegedly arranged hooligans who attacked them by collecting their handcuffs and using same to inflict injury on them while also tearing their uniforms in the process.

 

The incident happened on 15th  May, 2025, at Abule Ado Area of the Lagos State.

 

After the attack, the suspect, Sulaiman, was later arrested and charged before the Court for his alleged conduct against the Police officers.

 

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Olapade Suleiman ‘M’ on the 15th day of May, 2025 at about 1315hrs at Abule Ado Area, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by causing disorderliness by calling hooligans to fight two Police Officers and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Olapade Suleman, ‘M’ on the same date,time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did seriously assault ASP Abigail Igbodo ‘F’ and Spy Sgt. Nwanmeme Emeka ‘M’ by collecting their handcuffs and using same to inflict injury on them and also tearing the uniform of Spy Sgt. Nwanmeme Emeka ‘M’, while performing their lawfully duty as Police Officers and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 174 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. M. Ogun, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
