A 38-year old man, Kennedy Akanama, will have to explain to a Court in Lagos what he was looking for in the private part of his neighbour`s 5-year old girl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at his shop located at Jones Street in Ipaja area of Lagos, where the victim’s parents reside.
When the man was reportedly caught, he initially denied and claimed that he was checking something on her and was mistaken to have molested her.
The alleged assault was reported to the Ipaja Police Division; Akanama was arrested and detained at the police station for interrogation.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that initially, Akanama denied but when the victim was brought before him, she narrated how she was molested.
The victim alleged that he lured her into his shop, pulled her pant and inserted his finger into her private part to his satisfaction before he allowed her to go.
The whole thing got exposed after the victim left and told her parents what happened. Thus Akanama was arrested.
The police found him culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for sexual assault on a minor.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court for a date for hearing of the matter to enable the police to prove that Akanama actually committed the offence.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 11th July, 2019.
