Justice may have come on the way on a traumatized 15-year old girl, who was defiled by their 38-year old neighbour following the recent judgement by Court in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Lagos Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court, Ikeja, has convicted and sentenced the neighbour, Seun Aina, to 25 years imprisonment without an option of fine.
This was the judgement of Justice Abiola Soladoye, on Tuesday, 28th September, 2021, after finding him guilty of defilement.
“The defendant is sentenced to 25-years in prison without an option of fine,” the judge said.
The judgement came two years after he was arraigned in Court and he pleaded not guilty and the trial commenced.
The prosecution, led by Peter Owolabani, had told the Court during trial that the bus conductor committed the offense at 5.30 p.m. on 3rd January, 2018 at Dominion Estate Road, Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos.
He said the convict was 35 years old as at the time he committed the offence and the minor was his neighbor’s daughter.
He reportedly lured her into his apartment, defiled her but was later caught in the act and the dastardly act was reported to the Police, who then arrested and charged before the Court.
Also during the trial, the prosecution presented three witnesses including the Investigating Police Officer and a Medical Doctor.
The defense presented two witnesses, the convict, and a medical doctor.
The offence contravenes the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos 2015.
