A 40-year old man, Femi Adeyemi, has been arrested in Lagos for allegedly engaging his neighbour’s 6-year old girl in sex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Igando Road by Kwara Bus Stop in Ikotun, Lagos where they reside.
It was gathered that the suspect, Femi, lured the victim into his apartment, removed her pant and penetrated her.
However, the matter got exposed after the victim revealed what happened to her parents and the matter was reported to the police at Ikotun Division who arrested Femi for investigation.
During interrogation, Femi initially denied but the victim was said to have confronted and narrated how he raped her.
The police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for engaging the little girl in sex.
Adeyemi was charged for defilement which attracts several years in prison if he is tried and found guilty in Court.
When he was brought to the Court, the prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP because the offence was a serious one.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs O. Sule-Amzat, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail. The Court did not take his plea but asked the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for defilement.
The matter was adjourned till 8th July, 2019 for report of the DPP to be ready.
