Man, 40, Caught Having Sex With Neighbour’s Daughter, 6

The police in Lagos have arrested a 40-year old man, John Ikeji, after he was caught for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 6-year old girl.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at 17 Christian David Street in Ijegun area of Satellite Town, Lagos where they reside.

It was gathered that the suspect, John, allegedly lured the victim into his apartment, inserted his fingers into her private part before he penetrated her and injured her in the process. He thereafter warned the victim not to tell anyone what had happened to her but she was unable to hide it because she was injured in her private part.

The victim opened up and informed her parents about what happened when they were not around. The matter was then reported to the police and the suspect was arrested. The man was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for investigation.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that during interrogation, John initially denied committing the offence before the victim confronted him and demonstrated what happened in his apartment which made him speechless.
The police found him culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement.
The prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because it was a case of defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, did not take his plea and ordered the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 15th July, 2019, when the DPP’s report will be ready. P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds the man culpable and recommends him to be tried for the alleged offence.
