A 40-year old man, Usma Amuda, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly engaging a 16-year old girl in sex romp and getting her pregnant in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Amuda, has been arrested and charged for defilement.
The incident happened at Alhmed Way, Amukoko area of Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect lured the girl into his apartment and forcefully engaged her in sex romp. And having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go but warned her not to tell anyone and she kept it to herself.
However, the whole act got exposed after her parents discovered changes on her body, a medical test was conducted on her and the result showed that she was pregnant.
The parents then asked her who was responsible and she mentioned the suspect. Thus, the matter was reported to the Police at Alakuko Division and he was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation.
After he was thoroughly interrogated, the Police found him culpable despite the fact that he claimed that he did not force the girl into the act and did not know that she was pregnant.
He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, moved a motion before the Court asking that the matter be referred to the DPP for legal advice since the alleged offence is capital punishment, which attracts life imprisonment.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Layinka, ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
