Man, 40, Docked For Stealing Lodger’s N2.7m Gold Necklace Inside Hotel Room

A 40-year old man, Ojotunle Musa, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing a customer’s N2.7m gold necklace inside the hotel room.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Exquisite Suites and Hotel located at Gowon Estate, Egbeda area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect went to the hotel room, stole the items and escaped before the owner realized that the items were missing and reported to the management. The Police did not state if the suspect was a staff of the hotel or not but alleged that he stole the items worth the amount in question.
The alleged theft was reported to the Police at Area M Command,Idimu. Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over the missing items.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charge read:
“That you, Ojotunle Musa, on the 8th of December, 2024, at about 1430hrs at the Exquisite Suites and Hotel located at Gowon Estate, Egbeda, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, did steal one gold neck chain valued Two Million Seven Hundred Thousand Naira (N2, 700,000.00) property of one Lucas ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to the law and punishable under Section 287(7) of the criminal law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for facts and sentence since he pleaded guilty to enable the Court to sentence him accordingly.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town and adjourned till 24th March, 2025, for facts and sentence.
