Man, 40, Sent To Prison For Using Hot Pressing Iron To Attempt To Kill Twin Sons

A 40-year old man, Emmanuel Ude, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly attempting to kill his twin children, Caleb Ude and Joshua Ude, aged 11, by using hot electric pressing iron to inflict injury on them.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 31st July, 2024 at No. 6 Agbamu Street, Mosafejo, Amukoko area of Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the victims suffered their fate for committing an undisclosed offence, which angered their father, who locked them inside room and flogged them. As if that was not enough,  he then plucked up an electric pressing iron, used it on them. They were badly injured and rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 17th October, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
Part of the charges read:
“That you, Emmanuel Ude ‘m’ on the 31 day of July, 2024 at about 1300hours, at No. 6, Agbamu Street, Mosafejo Amukoko, Lagos, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did unlawfully attempt to kill your twin sons, Caleb Ude ‘m’ and Joshua Ude ‘m’ both 11 years old by beating them to the point of death by using electric hot pressing iron on them and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 230 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II: That you, Emmanuel Ude ‘m’on the same date, time and place, at the aforementioned District, did assault your twin son, Caleb Ude ‘m’ and Joshua Ude ‘m’ both 11years old by flogging them with cane, locked them inside the room and left for unknown place and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT III: That you, Emmanuel Ude ‘m’on the same date, time and place, at the aforementioned District, did beat your twin sons, Caleb Ude ‘m’ and Joshua Ude ‘m’ by causing grievous harm on them and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 245 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
