A 41-year old man, Adekoya Ifeoluwa, has been arrested and charged for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 15-year old girl inside an uncompleted building in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the dastardly incident happened at Aleke area of Ikorodu, Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect lured the girl to the place in the evening at about 7.30pm on 15th June, 2023, forced her to remove her pants and penetrated her.
However, while he was in the act, he was caught by one of the residents, who raised alarm which attracted other neighbours and the girl confessed what happened.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area. He was arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under Section 137 of the Criminal code.
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 19th October, 2023, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
