Man, 41, In Trouble For Damaging N25m Mercedes Benz Truck

A 41-year old man, Kehinde Isaac, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly damaging a Mercedes Benz truck worth N25m and was asked to pay for the purchase of the parts and he had no money to do so.
P.M.EXPRESS reports the suspect, Isaac, has been arrested and charged for malicious damage under the Criminal Laws of the State.
The incident happened at Power line Street, Joke Ayo area of Alagbado, Lagos.
According to the Police,  the suspect maliciously damaged the Benz truck with registration number, MBK107SB, belonging to Olaore Transport Company worth the said amount.
The Police did not state if he was a  driver or worker in the company but found him culpable after the matter was reported to the Police at Alagbado Division. The operatives arrested and detained him over the alleged conduct.
He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court over the alleged offence.
The charge read:
“That you, Kehinde Isaac “M”, on the 2nd of July, 2024 at about 1400hrs at No.4 Power Line Street, Joke Ayo, Alagbado, Lagos State in the Ikeja magisterial district, did maliciously damage a Mercedes Benz truck with registration number MBK 107SB valued at Twenty-Five Million Naira (N25,000,000) property of one Olaore Transport Company and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 350 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, granted him bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 16th October,2024 for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
