A 42-year old man, Oluwajana Opeyemi, has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly tricking a 17-year old girl into a sex romp after fondling her breasts, getting her confused and she was unable to resist him.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in 2020 when the victim was 15 years old at Olarewaju Street, Dopemu area of Agege, Lagos, where they reside.

Police sources stated that the trauma of how she was lured into the act could not leave her memory over the years and  she went to the Police and reported how she was raped by Opeyem, iwho took advantage of her.

She was said to have been lured by Opeyemi into his apartment, who held her with words of mouth and later started fondling her breasts, which made her became confused. She was unable to resist him when he  pulled her pants, penetrated her and she had no peace over the act.

The Police later arrested the suspect, Opeyemi and transferred him to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation over the act. He reportedly admitted to have slept with her but with her consent.
But the victim insisted that she never consented to the act but was lured into it having taken advantage of her and she lost her virginity in the process.

The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for statutory rape, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.

However,  when he he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Victor Eruada, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the victim is still a minor.

The Presiding Magistrate, M. O.Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody without an option of bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.

The matter was adjourned till 4th April, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
