Police operatives from the Delta State Command have arrested a 42-year old man, David Fohba, for allegedly sexually molesting and inducing abortion after he impregnated his 14-year old step-daughter.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the pharmacist, who sold the drugs which the prime suspect used to terminate the pregnancy, has also been arrested and detained for interrogation over his alleged involvement in the illegal abortion.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Edafe Bright, who said that the suspect was arrested after the teenage girl confided in the principal of her school.
SP Bright stated : “On the first day, the suspect forcefully raped her when she was 13, and after that he continued to violate and molest her every other night. He didn’t just end there. In August this year, the girl informed the suspect that she missed her period, and he went to the internet and googled how to abort pregnancy”.
“After the internet search, he procured 18 tablets of cytolet (200m) and forced the girl to take 12 tablets of it to abort the baby.”
“When the pregnancy refused to be terminated, he went to the internet again and bought an oxytocin injection that was supposed to be given through the vein and forced her to drink.”
It was after that the suspect was arrested that the pharmacist who sold the prescriptive drugs was also arrested.
The girl, in a video interview with the Police, said her step-father started molesting her in January, last year.
She said, “He called me to the room during a wedding party in our compound and started touching me and thereafter pulled my pants and raped me.”
She said when she told him that she missed her period, he bought her drugs, saying they would flush her system.
She further said, “The first time he gave me the drug was on Sunday, and he instructed me to tell my mother that I am having stomach pains so that I could come home to take the drug.”
The main suspect, also in a video interview, confessed molesting the teenager since January last year, saying he procured the drugs when she informed him that she had not seen her period.
He said, “I told her that the drugs would flush her system and she would see her period”.
The Police stated that the suspect will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
